Perpetual Succour Novena - Mahim

Recently I attended Novena at St.Michael’s Church, Mahim and just before leaving, I wished to buy a Novena book in Tamil for my newspaper boy, as had been requested by him. I enquired the price at one of the stalls inside the Church compound and was a bit taken aback to hear that the price for the same was Rs.25/=. Since it was for someone else, I decided to verify the price elsewhere and so went outside the Church compound to MARKCEL’s religious items shop next door. My intuition was right, as lo and behold, the price for the very same book, same print date and same publisher was just Rs.13/=, which was almost half the price.Ofcourse, I purchased the book outright at MARKCEL’s and thought of it as a great saving for that poor, religious, newspaper boy and also thought to myself that had I bought it in the Church compound at Rs.25/= and charged the boy that amount, sooner or later, he may have found out the actual price to be Rs.13/= and so would thereafter doubt my honesty towards him !One wonders why the price of everything is double inside the Church compound stalls than what it is outside ?Maybe the Church has to give away these ill-gotten profits to the poor……!

"हरित वसईचा लढा" या श्री.मार्कूस डाबरे लिखीत पुस्तकाच्या प्रकाशनाचा ६ डिसें. ला सोहळा शानदारपणे संपन्न झाला, त्याबद्दल हरित वसई चळवळीचा एक कार्यकर्ता म्हणून खूप आनंद झाला. तरीही प्रस्तुत पुस्तकात आणि प्रकाशन सोहळ्यात श्री.डाबरे यांच्याच गोतावळ्यातील लोकांचा आणि कार्यकर्त्यांचा  उदोउदो केला गेल्याचे  आढळून आले आहे. कित्येक धडाडीच्या कार्यकर्त्यांचा  नामोल्लेखही टाळण्यात आला आहे.

उदा. वसईतील ख्यातनाम विज्ञान लेखक श्री.जोसेफ तूस्कानो हे हरित वसई चळवळीचे प्रारंभीपासून खंदे कार्यकर्ते आहेत व प्रस्तुत चळवळीचे प्रवक्ते म्हणून ते वैज्ञानिक दृष्टीकोनातून चळवळीच्या घडामोडीचा आढावा घेत होते.
- वसईचा पर्यावरण लढा (साधना डिसें. १८ आणि २६ १९९२)
- लवकरच वसईचे वाळवंट होईल ( म.टा. ९ जून १९९८)
- वसईतील विहिरीचे पाणी पिण्यास अयोग्य? (सुवार्ता मे १९९९)

यासारखे त्यांचे लेख चळवळीच्या काळात लोकजागृतीस्तव गाजले होते. समितीच्या प्रत्येक आंदोलनात त्यांचा सहभाग असायचा. त्याकाळी जीवन दर्शन केंद्रात हरित वसईच्या मीटिंगला उपस्थित राहून रात्री-बेरात्री ते घरी जात, तेव्हा भुईगाव, गिरीज डोंगरीजवळ त्यांची स्कूटर अडवून त्यांना धमक्या देण्यात येत असत. तरीही न डगमगता ते गावातील आळीआळीत सभा घेऊन जनजागृती करीत होते.

या सर्वावर कढी म्हणजे १९८५ च्या दिवाळीत दिल्लीहून (बदलीच्या ठिकाणातून) मुंबईला कामासाठी आलेले असताना, एकदा विरार लोकल ट्रेन मध्ये निर्मळच्या एका अपंग तरुणाला धनधांडग्या गुंडाकडून वाचवित असताना त्यांची गाठ भाई ठाकूरच्या टोळीशी पडली होती. खान नावाच्या त्या टोळीच्या म्होरक्याने लोकल ट्रेनमधल्या त्या भरगच्च भरलेल्या डब्यात श्री.तूस्कानो साहेबांची कॉलर पकडून विचारले होते, "तू फादर डिब्रिटो चा साथी आहेस ना?" तेव्हा त्यांनी न डगमगता विचारले होते, "त्याचा इथे संबंध काय?"
तेव्हा तूस्कानो रक्तबंबाळ होईपर्यंत त्यांना त्या तेरा लोकांच्या टोळीने बडदले होते. ही बातमी नंतर मुंबईतल्या वर्तमानपत्रात व स्थानिक नियतकालिकात छापून आली होती. भाई ठाकुराच्या तेव्हाच्या दहशतवादाची ती घटना एक बोलकी साक्ष होती. पण तिचा प्रस्तुत पुस्तकात कुठेच उल्लेख नाही म्हणून खेद वाटला, एवढेच.

This is a good site for Vasaikars living outside vasai specially abroad.Good effort from Mr. Richard and his team. Well done!!!

 I would like to suggest that this site be updated on a regular basis with all the latest information like news, photos and real estate updates in vasai as this will also give viewers outside India to know whats happening in vasai also to get an idea to invest in real estate market. I work and live in Dubai and i am constantly in search for news and investments in Vasai.
